Bill Rawles Classic Cars sponsors The 2014 White Dove Collectors Transport Show for the Fourth year running

In January John Turner visited Bill Rawles Classic Cars to confirm our 2014 support

Event organisers visited the workshop in January to confirm our continued support in 2014

Bill Rawles Classic Cars has been supporting The White Dove Collectors Transport Show for the last three years and 2014 will be no different when we will, once again be one of the main sponsors. We are very pleased to give our backing, time and energy to this fantastic summer event, run solely to raise funds for The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice is the only adult Hospice caring for terminally ill people and their families across the whole of West Surrey and part of North East Hampshire, both at the Hospice and in our community.

We are privileged to have this valuable facility in our area. It takes over £6 million pounds a year to run and the majority of the income is due to fund raising, legacies, retail income, donations and gifts. To generate this sort of annual income is not easy and so we are more than happy to help in our small way. We couldn’t agree more with the Hospice mission statement “Because every day is Precious…………”

Over 10 years the Show has just got bigger and better

Over 10 years the Show has just got bigger and better

The first White Dove Collectors Transport Show  took place over a decade ago, created by John Turner, when he had the idea of creating a small-scale, one off event, exclusively for motorbikes with the sole aim of raising money for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in order to show his gratitude to the Hospice staff, who looked after his father at the end of his illness. The first show only attracted 120 entries and John Turner never envisaged that it would become an annual show, growing in size and popularity year on. It now welcomes motorbikes, classic cars, commercial and military vehicles. For lovers of vintage through to classic cars, Lorries and motorcycles there are some wonderful exhibits to be seen, with the best being awarded cups and certificates. Last year the show attracted over 600 vehicles, more than 200 motorcycles and visitors exceeded 1,000, raising a record sum of £13,500.00

Why do we like this event so much and continually support it??? Well obviously it is raising money for such a good local cause and it is has been devotedly run by the same family for over 10 years. But it is just such a relaxed, good day out, the atmosphere is buzzing and it is a lovely sight to stand back and see a field full of classic, vintage and veteran vehicles arising from commercial, military or private collections, people socialising, chatting, chilling, more often than not around a picnic table with a homemade hamper, a cup of tea or maybe a glass of Pims in hand. The event organises a ride out for the motorcycles around the Hampshire countryside, as well as providing an array of trade and craft stands, auto jumble, refreshments, clubhouse facilities, a barbeque and live musical entertainment throughout the day.

John Turner, event founder and organiser said “We feel that it is the rural setting of the venue and relaxed nature of the event which contributes to the success of the show and sees the core of our exhibitors return every year”

The 2014 show is taking place on Sunday 10th August

This year’s show takes place on Sunday 10th August 2014, at Kingsley Sports Ground, Sickles Lane, Near Bordon, Hampshire, GU35 9PD from 11 am

The White Dove is unique as the exhibitors are invited to make a donation to the event. The funds raised by the show have contributed to several capital projects at the hospice and assisted with the provision of vehicles and specialist care equipment. The show is run by a number of volunteers and reliant on sponsors and the public venturing along. Every effort is made to ensure the maximum possible donation is made to the Hospice. The organisers promote the show amongst local classic car and motorcycle clubs, in magazines and newspapers and on the internet. All sponsorship is gratefully received and the organisers are always looking for new support in order to grow on every year’s success.
