Austin Healey 3000 MKIIA

Built between 26-30th April 1963 and dispatched to the home market on the 2nd May 63’ to car mart London, this is a fine example of a sought after Austin-Healey.

A UK RHD 3000 BJ7, known to most as the MK2A this car was built and dispatched in Ivory white over black but has had a colour change in the past to the most popular of colour, ice blue over white.

The MK2A benefits from a combination of features seen on early and late 3000 cars. The early leather wrapped dash and small side lights of the MK1 & 2 and the pop-up hood and wind-up windows which popularises the 3000 MK3 and it is this combination which makes the MK2A so sought after as you really do get the best of both worlds, an early car in looks with late 3000 practicality.

This particular car, BHX 966A is one of only 455 built for the home market. There was around 6,100 MK2A’s built and when considering there was over 50,000 big Healeys built in total, this is a relatively small production run. BHX 966A also featured on a BMC advert and whilst this doesn’t make the car any more valuable, it is a nice thing to have in the history folder.

We have looked after this car since 2020 and in that time, it has received a full service, improvements in reliability, general maintenance and repairs, as needed. The car is stored in a purpose-built facility and used by the current owner on high days and holidays. The car presents well and although we haven’t seen the car since July 2021, it was always presented in good condition throughout.
