Austin-Healey 100 BN2
Built and dispatched in July 1956, this Austin-Healey BN2 was originally dispatched to the USA, destination Chicago, IL.
This vehicle has been known to us for several years, since around 2016 when we first looked after the car. We have completed a range of work for the previous owner including a service on two occasions and new tyres in 2016.
The car was then sold to the current owner, in 2022 and we saw the car again last year where it came through the workshop for a comprehensive inspection and report. The current owner enjoyed his Healey so decided to press on and complete all the work and suggested upgrades on the car, a bill totalling £11,500. This included general maintenance, service, fitment of the 100M cold air box, new fuel pipe, new prop shaft universal joints, new engine oil sump, rear shocks and rear tyres as well as upgrades such as 7/8” anti-roll bar, alternator and neg earth conversion, CSI electronic distributor and electrical cut off switch. On the underside, we repaired some cracks to the shock absorber mountings (a common fatigue point) and a crack to the front suspension mount was also repaired.
The underside is not perfect, but it is in fair condition, especially for a car at this price point and we would happily show you the car on the ramp and explain areas that are ‘good and bad’, probably highlighting things most classic car salespeople wouldn’t even show you but I would like you to be aware of.
In the next 5 – 10 years I would recommend considering capping the chassis with our specially made capping section, another common way to strengthen and repair the chassis sections that are all becoming a bit thin after 70 years! This is no different to any other Healey, not just this one.
The car is a US car, LHD and finished in green, the roundels and stickers are removable if desired. The interior is in great condition and comes with a fitted tonneau cover but no soft top hood. The car drives really well especially with the BN2 4 speed gearbox, always much better than the 3 speed. Performance is good and although I cannot say it is M spec, it is certainly spritely and much quicker than a standard car so we are sure some work has been completed but cannot be verified. Buying this car, you would benefit from the large expenditure only last year from the current owner, (he has bought a fast road 3000 from us, hence the reason to sell the 100, despite the fact he loves it).
I can offer the car with a RHD conversion included.

Did you know? We do not own our sales cars, we sell on a fixed commission of £1,800 +vat which is included in the price, this is not % based incentivised commission sale, so we feel our cars are priced at the correct market values. Every car is checked and inspected before sale, and we are happy to discuss defects and potential issues as well as positives and point these out before purchase. Whilst it cannot be expected that an old vehicle can be 100% fault free, our passion is driven by putting the right people with the right cars based on your budget and requirements. You can buy your Healey with confidence from a trusted and reputable dealer. If you would like to sell your classic car with us, call Jack Rawles on 01420 564343.
