2013 Ginetta Junior End of Season Round Up

Junior Ginetta Championship, a highly competitive motorsport series for 14-17 year olds

Junior Ginetta Championship, a highly competitive motorsport series for 14-17 year olds

Jack Rawles first year in motorsport has been an unforgettable, worthwhile experience, hopefully not just for Jack but for everyone who has been involved and we would like to send a huge thank you to anyone  who has helped throughout this season.  In 2012 and 2013 Jack entered the highly competitive Ginetta Junior Scholarship, to win a fully funded season, and on both occasions narrowly missed out, consistently obtaining second place. This meant that the only way Jack could get on track was to knowingly compete on a tight budget, running as a privateer led by Bill Rawles and his team, who were also on a steep learning curve. Jack was pitched against the majority of competitors who were running with a professional, experienced team, driving  expertly tuned and set up cars, maybe with new components on demand, unlimited professional driver coach tuition for technical expertise, extra on and off track time practice sessions and maybe even a sports psychologist to help develop the mental strength required to be potentially the best.

A huge thank you has to be given to Jake Hill who attended every race meet to share his expertise and motorsport knowledge with Jack. Jake did a great job of keeping Jack focused, coaching from the trackside, analysing onboard footage and helping with the overall progression that has been achieved. Jake Hill, fitted into the team so well and we would like to wish him every success in his own motorsport career, being described in Motorsport news as –   “one of UK motorsport’s brightest young prospects”

Also thank you for the recent introduction to Richard Fores, a grade ‘A’ ARDS race instructor, an extremely talented coach, with a wealth of experience working with all levels of racing drivers.

Gary and Sean of Monsterwraps need a medal for there endless support to Jack

We could not round up our end of season report without giving a huge acknowledgement and thank you to Monsterwraps who have tirelessly been behind Jack all the way, making sure that his car always looks in top condition, no matter what damage has been suffered. Gary and Sean know exactly what is required when a car has to look good. For the finale they created a hugely successful, show stopping, attention grabbing, one off fun monster  themed livery for the weekend.  Monsterwraps said – “Since being welcomed into the jack rawles racing team, our wrapping and tinting businesses has achieved national coverage with a three fold increase in quotation requests, with sharp peaks immediately after race weekends. Having the television coverage which comes with sponsoring a Ginetta Junior racing team has really helped grow our business, and reach a specific target audience on a national scale, as well as being proud to be backing Jack, a strong title contender and feeling part of the team. ” We have thoroughly enjoyed having them as part of our team and we are hoping that Monsterwraps will stay on board with Jack for 2014.

Jack has had a huge amount of interest for help in his future motorsport path of which we are extremely grateful

Towards the end of the season, Jack received a lot of help from Mick Mercer of Basingstoke Skip Hire, for which we have been  extremely grateful and we are hoping to develop and work together in 2014. Mick has a huge interest in motorsport and a wealth of experience and expertise that we hope we can build upon to create an interesting team in 2014. In 2003 Mick established a name for himself in the Britcar Endurance Championship, achieving numerous wins, racing in a Marcos Mantis. In 2010 Mick raced in a Ginetta G50 in the production category of Britcar and in 2011 returned to motorsport racing again in the Ginetta G50, in Class 3 of Britcar GT (renamed by the MSA The British Endurance Championship)
