Sometimes enough is enough and it was time for Bill Rawles Classic Cars to take a serious look at what was needed to be done – basically a jolly good tidy up. Bill Rawles, a qualified engineer and tool maker, a man totally passionate about engineering, a perfectionist, a stickler for attention to detail and a lifelong involvement with classic cars has recently found it necessary to stand back and look at what he has actually accumulated over the years. Hence Operation Spring Clean in Autumn was borne out of necessity. The first stage in the operation was to clear out our old storage barn, somewhere in the Hampshire countryside – a cave of interest for anyone who loves working on or restoring their classic car, but to the untrained eye it could easily be mistaken as a scene from Hoarders, a TV programme. Over many years it has been all too tempting to keep poking away those bits and bobs, that you may need one day. It is all too easy for things to be deposited and become out of sight, out of mind. Bills favourite saying is ‘just put it somewhere’ – have we found this fantasy place somewhere???

The second stage of Operation Spring Clean in Autumn was to acquire another storage facility – many may say why? Surely this only aids somebody with a hoarding tendency. Bill sold this logic to everyone close to him as a compulsory requirement, all the items from the storage barn in the depths of the Hampshire countryside would be brought to the new facilities, organised, catalogued and then they could actually be found and used, instead of only be a distant memory in Bills mind of ‘I think I had one of those’.

A few weeks on order is resuming and those hidden gems are being unearthed. They say a tidy workplace is sign of a tidy mind (or no work being carried out!!!). If you are Looking for a specific part please do not hesitate to give Bill Rawles a call or drop him an email of your requirements – if we can help, we will.

The new storage facilities are also perfect for customer short or long term storage of their vehicles and an excellent space for exhibiting sales cars. If you are looking to store or sell your car please do not hesitate to contact Bill Rawles to discuss your requirements and our rates. We have had a huge success rate and an extremely quick turnover of our sales cars. We attribute this partly to our fixed rate commission regardless of vehicle value and we believe in offering vehicles at a realistic value to condition, not at an over inflated market price. You can trust in our integrity with many years of experience and knowledge of the classic car market. When we market your classic car for sale we assess and describe it accurately, in respect of the good and the bad points to convey a practical valuation for buyer and seller alike, which in turn eliminates any disappointment, dissatisfaction and wastage of valuable time for all parties involved.

The final stage of operation Spring Clean in Autumn was carried out in the Bill Rawles Classic Cars workshop.  Sometimes when you are very busy your working environment can become neglected and bad habits are borne, which results in a very untidy work space. Bill Rawles, Charlie Rawles, Jack Rawles and Tom Smith were dust busters for the weekend. They worked tirelessly and very long hours to get the workshop back into ship shape order, ready for Monday morning. In Conclusion operation Spring Clean in Autumn has been very successful, with many customers and suppliers complimenting and praising the new look and feel of a tidy, clean workshop. A tidy workshop helps to create a happy working environment. The big questions are, ‘How long will it stay tidy?’ and ‘Who will be exposed as the messiest member of the Bill Rawles Classic Cars workforce?’ – If you are in our neck of the woods please feel free to pop by as at least they now can find the kettle  and the cups are clean and no longer a health and safety issue!!!
