Jaguar E-Type S2

This E-Type was recently requested to be sold here at Bill Rawles Classic Cars on consignment; the vehicle has been owned by the current owner since 1991. Whilst conducting our searches, it was revealed that this vehicle started life as a coupe. This is not common but also not un-heard of, at some point in the car’s life, it has been converted to a roadster. We have thoroughly looked over the vehicle and can confirm it has been completed to a very high standard and just like the current owner who has been unaware for 30+ years, it would be possible to mistake this for a genuine roadster. This vehicle has now spent more time as you see it today than when it was first built as a Coupe.
This is a genuine Jaguar E-Type but it started life as a Coupe, not a roadster.
Of course, this vehicle is sold with complete transparency as you would expect, but for someone who is looking for an E-Type, this is an opportunity to buy a S2 Roadster at a fraction of the price. Obviously, its history means it cannot be worth the same values as a genuine roadster hence the reduced price. – What an opportunity for someone who has always wanted an E-Type but it may have been out of reach!
First registered February 1971, this Jaguar E-Type Series 2, 4.2 roadster has been in current ownership for over 30 years. Bought by the current owner in 1991, the car has been well looked after and regularly maintained throughout the ownership with many receipts and invoices in a large, comprehensive history file with MOT’s dating back to 1975.
The jaguar presents well today having just had a full service and MOT with us in preparation for the season. The jag is running on triple weber carbs which is an accepted modification, whilst some prefer an E-Type to be on SU carbs, just as it left the factory, the induction noise and power from these well set up period carbs is hard to beat! The car drives very well and is clean throughout, on top and underneath.
However, there is room for improvement. Whilst the car presents well, finishing and details are showing some signs of age, wear and tear. Not from the bodywork or underside but from some interior items, bumpers and brightwork which would benefit from reconditioning, a great project to complete at home or by a specialist such as ourselves. The engine bay and boot are very clean, and the car is ready to enjoy this summer.
On the road the car is direct and goes very well, just as you would expect, ready to be enjoyed and improved over time if desired or continue to be used as-is!
